We had 40 racers, I set the start in the east part of town and looped the riders to the west and back. Really easy with sights of Berlin. The "Tresor" our SHITTY !!!!! house and techno club, over to "Kurfürstenstr." the heroin hooker strip with our checkpointmarshall in between the prostitutes. Further west and back thru' the "Tiergarten", Berlins Central Park, hey NY we got at least a bigger park than you guys...
2nd last CP the "Brandenburg Gate", Germany's symbol of reunifacation and to the finish all the way at the end of the "East Side Gallery". The worlds biggest outside gallery. Guess what ? It's the last existing and biggest part of the "Berlin Wall", full with paintings & art. 1.5 km long!
We than rode thru' Berlins nightlife a la Critical Mass and made a stop at "Heidestr. @ Lehrter Bhf." to remember a courier girl who lost her life at this spot, while working in 1993........................................
The cars didn't complain, almost no honking at all !!???????? I guess Jan Ulrich kicked Armstrongs ass two days in a row and they didn't mind cyclists...!? The Party organized by Kai (http://www.rikschataxi.de) was the usual courier-blast. 100 free cold beers, the cops showed up and it got late, really early !!! and Austin couldn't even drink all the 100 free beers !!! Thanks to Ikka, who came from Helsinki, and of course to Pia & Austin from Copenhagen. Dunno what happened to them, but they almost finished last ??? How did you guys gonna call the new DBX thingy...??? Deadline ! or was it Deadlast ??? Snap *%&=?#'gukgz8...
