Regina, 06 Oct 01

to all a good night, our race here in regina is over, we now have a three-time champ who cleaned up by over thirteen minutes on number three (#2 was about 2 seconds off the winner's back wheel), and gets a third nameplate on the trophy. thanks to the crew from winnipeg who showed up and kicked some ass, and our former '98 champion who came from calgary just for this, and is on his way back sometime tomorrow - hung over of course. also thanks to our many sponsors within and without the local bike community (we only have two bike messengers in this city) for giving us a cheap keg for the racers and free pizza for after, and loads of prizes that just kept on coming. our total number was 23 racers, seven volunteers, two girlfriends, one hanger-on. conditions were beautiful, clear, cool, no wind, no traffic, only one security hassle, and a failed parkade ticket machine which wouldn't dispense the needed time stamp (oops) meant everyone had a pretty smooth race. the beer even ran out early (which is okay because i have to sleep here)! next year we would like to invite any and all of you out there to come visit us here. we can't vouch for the weather, but it's only snowed on us once (after the race) and it is usually okay. well, it is very late, everyone has gone, and most of the garbage is picked up, so i'm out of here. good luck to the swiss, who were racing tonight as well. we were thinking of you.

the race started at 8:07 p.m., Oct. 6th.

Bob & Martin - started out, passed a bar, grabbed a six pack, did a few stops, went trials riding, grabbed another six pack, smoked up, tried to finish but no one was at the check points anymore, showed up two hours and ten minutes after the start.

Nine riders did the midnight nude ride through the Cathedral Village Freehouse, and were propositioned as a group immediately thereafter by some 35 year old woman who'd had a few. "Nice Dinks on you boys" was her comment.
