Open Forum Agenda Items - CMWC 2000 Philly

The following is the agenda for the CMWC 2000 Open Forum. Discussion and inquiry concerning this agenda are heartily encouraged among CMWC attendees between the two open forum meetings pre and post-event; we regard such threshing out of individual opinions as essential for acheiving informed consent. That said, the following are the ideas to be covered in discussion - nothing here is predecided or set in stone - all decisions will be taken at the second of the 2 open forum meetings. If you would like to add any agenda items to this preliminary agenda, please email them to me. Thanks!

  1. The issue of voting by proxy on CMWC host city:

Should proxy votes be collected at CMWC for those who cannot or dont wish to attend the open forum? Should they be collected prior to the event from current dues-paying IFBMA members only? If proxy votes are to be collected prior to the event, the IFBMA should ensure that all dues-paying members should have full final proposal information from all possible host cities at least one month prior to CMWC?

  2. Current Proposals before the IFBMA

Some of these proposals have become practice at CMWC, but they still need to be ratified by the IFBMA. Some of these proposals have been technically before the IFBMA for 2 years, and we should really declare some of them to not only be common practice, but official policy.Though the first meeting is generally reserved for presentation of the agenda, final proposals for the next years CMWC, and announcement of cities bidding for the CMWC 2 years hence, we should consider making these easy decisions at the first meeting in order to have more time for discussion of possibly more difficult topics at the second, typically decision-making, meeting.

  3. Host city for CMWC 2001 - Proposals from Budapest and Paris

Both Paris and Budapest should be prepared to hand out copies of their final proposals, and give short presentations on them at the first (pre-event) meeting. They should be prepared to present again at the second meeting, and answer questions at any time during the event.

  4. Media Relations presentation - Laura Hopcroft (Toronto)
