Syndey, 06 Mar 99

We had the 2nd running of the harbour bridge time trial this morning. Same day to the year, same start time and all, in an attempt at creating a tradition. The prize of the framed photo of the bridge, circa 1932, was up for grabs again, with last year's winner now in London for winter therapy. Last year it was overcast with a bad headwind. This year it was sunny and free of wind.

Perhaps it was the early hour of the event (10am for an 11am start) or genaral apathy on the part of the courier masses, but nine riders turned up for the event. 4 road bikes, 4 mountain bikes, one antique with one gear, back pedal brake, cranks not at 180 degrees to each other. Seven companies represented.

And without further ado, the envelope please:

1. James - Red Tag - 6:46
2. Paul - Mail Call - 6:47
3. Wayde - Braggs - 6:48
4. Lawrence - Allied - 6:53
5. Mick - Snap Emergency - 7:09
5.Andy - Mail Call
7. John - Snap - 7:27
8. Sean - A1 - 7:31
9. Dean - Allied - 9:13

Thanks to Bill of Direct for the finish line duties once again, and Ollie for assisting at the finish. Once again competitors chose to drink afterwards at the Palisades Hotel, Millers Point.

Mark Riley's record of 6:40 stands for another year, despite the more favourable conditions.

The next race will be the return of the loop of attrition on sunday april the 18th at the Palisades. 2pm for 2:30 start.
