ECMC '96, Hamburg, Germany

Dear cycle messengers from all over Europe and the whole world! We're excited like little children at X-mas to greet you heartily in our beautiful city and say hello and

WELCOME! LET'S TAKE YOU IN OUR ARMS!

That's what iis expecting you here, and is the result of months of hard work, and we hope to offer you the ultimate service. If you have any questions or wishes you can always turn to the competition management (Esther and Bjorn) or to any Stortebiker (orange shirts). We can get you nearly everything.

For information the courier cafe in the center of the catering line and the info table at the very place are available to you. That's where the starting lists and the current placings will be put up. These important documents can also be looked at in the accompdation area and at the competition management.

There are toilets in the accomodation area and along the start and finish area. Please don't urinate in the bushes, it stinks. Who ever smelt the shithole of a festival ground knows what we are talking about. Take care and don't smash any bottles or glasses, and if it should happen, please clear away the broken pieces! Apart from the danger of injury we have to clean the whole area of all that rubbish afterwards. Open fire is absolutely forbidden in the accomodation area by the authorities and we have to have an eye on that order. Thanx!

In the accomodation area in our big tent we will serve a tasty and healthy breakfast every morning and we'll have a party in there on Saturday. In addition to the toilets we offer some showers to all of you who take care if the smell of their body. Please don't waste any water because the tanks below the containers just take on a limited quantity of sewage and when they are full it's over.

So we do hope to burn our event into your brains forever, and let's tell our children of this weekend with tears in our eyes and a smile on our face. Let us live the spirit of the championships, try to get to know each other better, exchange experiences and get new ideas and views. Now we've got our chance to show our power to the city of Hamburg. The founding of a German messenger association is right in sight (watch out for workshops!) and we hope to influence the world association with communication and political topics.

Let's start to focus our power! Championships are not only a family meeting; we are in the position to be noticed by the people with some messages because of the increasing attention of the public media, e.g. use your bike more often, it's five to twelve! If we've got the chance to make the world not even worse - we are on the right path - let's do them.

We are dead happy to have you all here! Let's have a damn party! Let's have a god damn party! We've only got three days - with only 24 hours a day... and you want to have a race... o.k. ... here we go:

KEEP THE SPIRIT!

in love,
yours Stortebiker
